Inventor Jerome Case founded the business of CASE in Racine, when he started the building of threshing machinery. Later the business gained recognition globally as the initial maker of steam engines for its agricultural application. In time, the business grew to become the world's biggest maker of steam engines.
By 1912, Case had become established in the construction machine industry. The rapidly began to produce road building equipment such as graders and steam rollers. Case grew their construction machine business through various acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in the year 1957. Case had expanded their company by the mid-1990s to become the top maker of light-sized to medium-sized construction equipment.
During the year 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This corporation became responsible for marketing several of the world's top brands of construction and agricultural machines.
