The type of vehicle normally found inside factories, warehouses and other work sites where moving heavy materials from one location to another is necessary is called a forklift. The mast is the mechanism situated on the front of the forklift that hydraulically lowers and lifts the load. The "cat" is the protected area where the forklift operator sits.
Forklifts can carry loads which weigh between one to five tons. Some kinds could be used to raise shipping containers and much heavier loads.
Forklift tires must be maintained and checked on a regular basis. The kinds of tires on various forklifts vary based on factors such as frequency of use, load weights and ground surfaces. Each and every operator of a forklift should have access to replacement tires, a forklift jack and tire press.
Tire Maintenance Instructions
You must regularly inspect the tires. Watch for indications of damage and wear to the tires. If the wear on the tire exceeds 40%, it has to be replaced.
When buying tires, ensure that you are buying the right kind - solid, pneumatic or polyurethane.
When the tire needs replacing, position the forklift jack under the tire and raise the forklift high enough that you could easily change the tires.
You could use the tire press to pull the tire from the rim and remove the damaged tire. Install the new tire and secure it properly. If you are changing more than one tire and you have just one jack, lower the forklift, and afterward reposition the jack at the next tire.
A repair company could offer on-site tire repair. If the tire is too large for both in-house and mobile tire presses, the tire which is damaged would have to be transported to a shop that has a stationary tire press.
