Different Kinds of Aerial Lift
Aerial lifts are a specialized type of heavy machinery that allows employees to be lifted into the air. These equipment can be used to carry out repairs and maintenance in areas which are high up in the air like on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Like nearly all tools, there are various models of aerial lifts which can be used to carry out different tasks. For the utmost safety, each kind of different kind of machinery requires proper training and specific certification before operation.

Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are often called Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic type of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform that is lifted up using pneumatic power and are mostly used for indoor applications. Typically, scissor lifts are the safest kind of lift models. When totally compressed, these scissor lifts could be driven similar to big carts. Generally, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anybody could utilize these devices, workers must be licensed as operators.

Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are a lot more complex kind of aerial lift machinery. A boom lift has a wide base in order to keep the lift anchored. It utilizes a jointed arm that has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box situated in the bucket that allows the operator to lower and hoist the bucket. Because the arm of the boom is jointed, it could also move from side to side. The boom lift looks like a tail of a metal scorpion. Traditionally, it is utilized in outdoor construction applications. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to operate than scissor lifts, therefore, operators have to be licensed separately for these types of lifts.
