It is far more complex to drive a forklift than to drive a car. The lift truck operator has to have the necessary skills and receive special training to operate a lift truck. Lift trucks can also tip when not carrying a load. An unloaded forklift can tip if an operator has positioned a load on scaffolding using an extended boom. If the operator reverses the lift truck and turns abruptly whilst bringing the boom down, the forklift's center of gravity would be pushed to the edges and a tip over could occur.
